The 60 year class reunion for the Scranton class of 1955 was held Friday, June 19, at the home of Andrew Foster in Jefferson with 19 of the remaining 24 classmates attending.
Janet Tryon gave a very nice tribute to those who have passed away: Camille Buckner, Jane Eason Maulins, Jane Hawn Miller, John Jackson, Gary McDonald, Willard Morlan, Paul Rasmussen, Mary June Kennett Butler, Roberta Clark College, Mary Gilley, Donald Stephenson and Richard Peterson.
Joyce Frazier had several trivia questions of school days gone by.
Foster’s family catered the meal. Class photos from years ago were used on the placemats. Centerpieces on the table were cups from the late Lee Stevens’ collection. They were filled with candy and were offered to classmates as mementos.
The weather cooperated and most of the evening was enjoyed outdoors as the classmates and spouses got reacquainted and reminisced.
Joyce Frazier noted that one-half of the original classmates have celebrated more than 50 years of marriage. “How’s that for choosing the right mates?” asked Frazier.
Attending the reunion were (front, from left): Ramona Happe Scott, Omaha; Kay Calder O’Donnell, Des Moines; Janet Petersen Tryon, Ames; Joyce Wright Lass, Boone, and Delores Gibson Sturtz, Avon Park, FL; (middle row, from left) Frank Eason, Morton, IL; Joyce Stevens Frazier, Scranton; Joyce Miller Clark, Churdan; Janice Hatch Jome, Ogden; Rita Jo Paup Halsey, Guthrie Center; Patricia Amsden Oxenford, Shenandoah, and Delores Esdohr Finch, Jefferson; and (back, from left) Harlan Renwanz and Bob Eason, Scranton, Herald Sapp, Hamilton City, CA, Lynn Monthei, Fort Collins, CO, Dean Gibson and Larry Frazier, Scranton, and Andrew Foster, Jefferson.
